Saint Thérèse of Lisieux's Feast Day 2021

I don’t want this day to pass without honoring Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, whose feast day is today, October the first. The first of October is also the day I moved into my apartment in 1992 and I have an image of her on my key chain as well as a framed photo of her above my desk. 

She is known for many reasons, including for her “little way” and her appreciation of little things. This fact has prompted me to announce that I’ve been hard at work on another digital book for the Apple Bookstore.

It's Saint Francis's Feast Day

 Today is the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi. He is the patron saint of animals and environment and many web-sources concur, he could "be viewed as the original Earth Day advocate. Francis' devotion to God was expressed through his love for all of God's creation."

It's October!

Happy October! As the bulletin board in the background of the photo atop this blog entry states, "LEAVES FALL IN OCTOBER," so enjoy the foliage while you can. 

Oktoberfests also occur in this month, which ends with Halloween. 

And speaking of Halloween, even though it will not be here until thirty days from today, if you are planning to send greeting cards in honor of the occasion, I have a selection of them available via Fine Art America (FAA).

In the coming days, I'll tell you about my other Halloween card selections, for now, I'd like to turn your attention to the fact that today is the feast day of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux. I have written about this in a number of posts on my blog, including one on this day in 2019, where I featured the same video which is posted directly below.

I confess that I barely have even a fraction of the faith that she was known to possess.

In Honor of Therese de Lisieux's Birthday

On this day of January 2nd in 1873, St. Thérèse de Lisieux, was born and in honor of this fact, I've posted the video atop today's entry.

I confess that I've just now remembered this fact as I've always associated the date of October 1st with her, because that is the Feast Day of St. Thérèse de Lisieux.

I moved to my apartment on her Feast Day in 1992 and have a picture of her above my desk and my keychain is a medal upon which her image is imprinted.

Monday's Musings_2 Saint Jude

I can't let this day end without paying homage to Saint Jude on his feast day (which is always observed on October 28th). I have a small statue rendered in the likeness of him above my desk.

The figurine of him can be seen in the photo atop this entry and in the picture, he is the second one from the left, standing between Saint Francis (to his right) and Saint Joseph (to  his left).

Fyi, the other three statues (to the left of Saint Joseph respectively) that are included in this picture, are renditions of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saint Anthony, and Saint Lucy.

Today is Saint Teresa of Ávila's Feast Day!

I don't want the day to pass without mentioning today's is the Feast Day of Saint Teresa of Ávila. In bygone years I've written about her in entries that you may reference by clicking here. I especially appreciate her comparing gardening and the process of prayer which I discussed in a 2011 post on here on Blogger.

The image atop this entry has been included in my entries re Saint Teresa of Ávila and it from a page that features many of her quotes, including this one: "I am amazed by how much can be accomplished on this path by being bold and striving for great things. Even if a soul is not quite strong enough yet, she can still lift off and take flight. She can soar to great heights. But like a fledgling bird, she may tire herself out and need to perch for a while."

This "bonus" entry (unscheduled, "A Bird's Eye View," is in honor of this day being the first Sunday after 2019's Feast Day of Saint Francis, patron saint of animals (especially birds) and patron saint of those who love animals (especially birds). 

Churches (of all denominations) throughout the world hosted The Blessing of the Animals on his actual feast day but many (including The church of Saint John the Divine in NYC) will be holding that ceremony today.

The male and female Northern cardinals seen in the photographs directly above have a bird's eye view from within the tree tops of Central Park.

This bird type is featured in my three volume book series, Words In Our Beak.

It's Saint Francis's Feast Day!

Today's entry is not part of the regular posting schedule I announced this past Monday, rather it is an extra posting which I mentioned might be something I will do from time to time.

My reason for today's entry is honor Saint Francis of Assisi. Today is his feast day! One of the ways I'm honoring the day is by sharing the cartoon by Patrick McDonnell that is posted atop this entry.

Among many things, Saint Francis is often remembered as the patron saint of animals; especially birds. I have a small statue of Saint Francis above my desk (seen in the image directly below).

His statue the one standing at the far left and serves as an inspiration for me to persevere in my work to help others learn about the needs avian community through my book series, Words In Our Beak.

It's the Feast day of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux Tuesday's Truths WK 145

Welcome to the 145th segment of my Tuesday's Truths series which is coinciding with the feast day of  Saint Thérèse de Lisieux. I confess that I barely have even a fraction of the faith that she was known to possess.

This confession prompted me to think of one of St. Thérèse de Lisieux's quotes which is this: "I had wondered for a long time why God had preferences and why all souls did not receive an equal amount of grace […] Jesus saw fit to enlighten me about this mystery. He set the book of nature before me and I saw that all the flowers He has created are lovely. The splendour of the rose and whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. I realised that if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness and there would be no wild flowers to make the meadows gay."

I moved into my apartment on her Feast Day in 1992 and her picture (seen below) hangs above my desk as a reminder of "the little way" which is associated with her.

In Honor of Saint Jude

I cannot let the day of October 28th pass without "publicly" acknowledging my appreciation for the in intersection of Saint Jude. I have a small statue of him above my desk (second from left in the photo atop this entry).

Honoring Saint Francis AND Pica-John

Saint Francis of Assisi died 1,792 years ago yesterday, October the third, in the year 1226. According to records, he was forty-four  years old. Today, October 4th is his feast day. Among many things, he is often remembered as the patron saint of animals; especially birds.

I have a small statue of Saint Francis above my desk (seen in the image atop this entry where it is standing at the far left) to serve as an inspiration for me to persevere in my work to help others learn about the needs avian community through my book series, Words In Our Beak; as well as through any presentation I can make that is related to our feathered creatures.

October 1st 2018

St. Thérèse de Lisieux

Another October 1st is upon us and as always the day honors St. Thérèse de Lisieux, a saint whose framed photo (seen in the image directly above) hangs above my desk. As I've mentioned a number of times here on Blogger, including an entry I made in 2011, I moved into my apartment on her feast day in 1992.

Many of my years here have not been easy, with health-related issues frequently interrupting my work. But I'm hoping for some success with my endeavors (selling my photo-art, kaleidoscopic, as well as fauna-based) which I have had uploaded to my gallery pages on Fine Art America, and/or my booking presentations that feature issues related to my Words In Our Beak book series) will alleviate some of my financial burden.

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of spending part of my "Saturday in the Park," with Jenny (one of Cam 's biggest fans who is also an advocate for us being given an event at a bookstore on the UWS).

Saint Joseph's Day 2018

Today, March 19th, is the Feast Day of Saint Joseph.  I have a small statue rendered into his likeness above my desk (indicated by the arrow in the photo directly above) to remind me of my need for his intercession on my behalf. I'm grateful for the help that I've received from him in the past and I hope he will continue to come to my aid.  In any event, I've blogged about Saint Joseph in bygone years and in honor of his saint's day, I invite you to reference my entries by clicking here.

Honoring Saint Apollonia

It's Toothache Day (according to Holiday Insights). And I most certainly wish a toothache only lasted one day, as I've had many, and have had to put my money where my mouth is when it comes to dental fees! However, I should not despair, for today is also the Feast Day of Saint Apollonia.

According to a number of sources, including an article published in The Catholic Herald UK, she is hailed as the patron saint of dentistry.

The aforementioned article includes the image that is posted atop this blog entry and author of the takes issue with the image and states, "my difficulty with such art is that Apollonia has a vacant, wan and almost insipid facial expression. I don’t think this captures her feisty spirit: she was a deaconess in a time of great persecution and a defiant rebel."

I confess that I've only recently learned of this saint (who I've now called upon to intercede on my behalf re the horrendous (painful and costly) dental procedures which I've been enduring for months), so I can't comment on the author's remark that Saint Apollonia is portrayed with an "almost insipid facial expression which the author feels doesn't do justice to Apollonia's "feisty spirit."

Perhaps my figurine rendered in the likeness of a tooth fairy (as seen in the picture directly below) is one who more accurately represents Apollonia's personality?

However Apollonia may or may not be represented in a painting is not of much importance to me, what matters is her powerful intercession, which I hope she continues to do on my behalf, as I have more dental procedures to endure in the coming days.

Tuesday's Truths WK 66 Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated today. Chanukah 2017 begins this evening.

Here are Tuesday's Truths for week sixty-six. Today, December the twelfth, is the annual feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her statue can be seen in the image directly above (it's the fourth one from the left).

This evening of December the 12th, marks the first night of Chanukah for 2017. I've posted the video directly below in their honor of the occasion.

It's the Feast of Teresa of Ávila

Today's the Feast Day of Saint Teresa of Ávila. In bygone years I've written about her in entries published here on Blogger. I especially appreciate her comparison to gardening and the process of prayer which I discussed in my 2011 post.

In last year's post I included the same image which is atop this entry, and, as of today, I have nothing else to add to what I've written about her in the past. Therefore, I'm reiterating what I stated last year: I invite you to refer to my posts re Saint Teresa of Ávila as a way of learning more about this saint on her feast day.

Today's WW* is influenced by St. Francis's love of animals (*Wednesday's Wisdom)

The young cardinal who is facing forward in the photograph atop this blog entry, is named Frannie for Saint Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is today, October the fourth.

He is the patron saint of animals, ecology, as well as merchants; and he is represented in my home by a small statue which is on the book shelves above my desk (this can be seen in the next picture, where his figurine is at the far left).

In any event, Frannie was given this name by her mother, Cam; and within the image above this posting, Frannie can be seen spending time in one of her favorite places, the container which is home to my 'Tamukeyama', and on either side of her are house finches.

The green foliage that you see belongs to my Actinida kolomikta and Actimida (Kiwi Vines), who are the stars of my first urban garden-themed movie, The Kiwi Speaks! Fifteen Minutes of Fame...almost; which can be viewed within my You Tube channel. Cam, as you may know is the author of the book, Words In Our Beak Volume One. 

September's 30 days have passed for 2017. NEWS FLASH UPDATE: October has arrived.

September's 30 days have passed for 2017, and supposedly a number of birds, in the area where I live (at least the avian creatures who have admins) should have made their way south by now.
