Saint Thérèse of Lisieux's Feast Day 2021

I don’t want this day to pass without honoring Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, whose feast day is today, October the first. The first of October is also the day I moved into my apartment in 1992 and I have an image of her on my key chain as well as a framed photo of her above my desk.

She is known for many reasons, including for her “little way” and her appreciation of little things. This fact has prompted me to announce that I’ve been hard at work on another digital book for the Apple Bookstore.

The title is It's The Little Things. Stay tuned for info!

It's October!

A black and white photo of a Kindergarten class in 1959.
Happy October! As the bulletin board in the background of the photo atop this blog entry states, "LEAVES FALL IN OCTOBER," so enjoy the foliage while you can.

Oktoberfests also occur in this month, which ends with Halloween

And speaking of Halloween, even though it will not be here until thirty days from today, if you are planning to send greeting cards in honor of the occasion, I have a selection of them available via Fine Art America (FAA).

One of my FAA selections can be seen in the image directly below.

This is a picture of a Halloween card which I designed. It features a Jack-O-Lantern sitting atop a table in my garden. This Jack is "smiling" at a male house finch. The card is available via Fine Art America. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/house-finches-trick-or-treating-patricia-youngquist.html

It is sized 5" by 7" and FAA produces them on digital offset printers using 100 lb paper that has a UV protectant. The image is semi-gloss and the inside of the card is matte and blank so one can write a message, but if you prefer, FAA can customize any text or message that you want to include.

This is a picture of the price listing for the Halloween card featured in the previous image. As I daid in that alt text, I designed. It features a Jack-O-Lantern sitting atop a table in my garden. In the coming days, I'll tell you about my other Halloween card selections, for now, I'd like to turn your attention to the fact that today is the feast day of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux. I have written about this in a number of posts on my blog, including one on this day in 2019, where I featured the same video which is posted directly below.

I confess that I barely have even a fraction of the faith that she was known to possess.

In Honor of Therese de Lisieux's Birthday

On this day of January 2nd in 1873, St. Thérèse de Lisieux, was born and in honor of this fact, I've posted the video atop today's entry.

I confess that I've just now remembered this fact as I've always associated the date of October 1st with her, because that is the Feast Day of St. Thérèse de Lisieux.

I moved to my apartment on her Feast Day in 1992 and have a picture of her above my desk and my keychain is a medal upon which her image is imprinted.

It's the Feast day of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux Tuesday's Truths WK 145

Welcome to the 145th segment of my Tuesday's Truths series which is coinciding with the feast day of  Saint Thérèse de Lisieux. I confess that I barely have even a fraction of the faith that she was known to possess.

This confession prompted me to think of one of St. Thérèse de Lisieux's quotes which is this: "I had wondered for a long time why God had preferences and why all souls did not receive an equal amount of grace […] Jesus saw fit to enlighten me about this mystery. He set the book of nature before me and I saw that all the flowers He has created are lovely. The splendour of the rose and whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. I realised that if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness and there would be no wild flowers to make the meadows gay."

I moved into my apartment on her Feast Day in 1992 and her picture (seen below) hangs above my desk as a reminder of "the little way" which is associated with her.

October 1st 2018

This picture is of a framed photo of St. Thérèse de Lisieux.
St. Thérèse de Lisieux

Another October 1st is upon us and as always the day honors St. Thérèse de Lisieux, a saint whose framed photo (seen in the image directly above) hangs above my desk. As I've mentioned a number of times here on Blogger, including an entry I made in 2011, I moved into my apartment on her feast day in 1992.

Many of my years here have not been easy, with health-related issues frequently interrupting my work. But I'm hoping for some success with my endeavors (selling my photo-art, kaleidoscopic, as well as fauna-based) which I have had uploaded to my gallery pages on Fine Art America, and/or my booking presentations that feature issues related to my Words In Our Beak book series) will alleviate some of my financial burden.

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of spending part of my "Saturday in the Park," with Jenny (one of Cam 's biggest fans who is also an advocate for us being given an event at a bookstore on the UWS).

September's 30 days have passed for 2017. NEWS FLASH UPDATE: October has arrived.

September's 30 days have passed for 2017, and supposedly a number of birds, in the area where I live (at least the avian creatures who have admins) should have made their way south by now.

3 Weeks in the 2017 Season for my Crocuses (among other things)

Today, March the 19th, is the eve of the onset of the Spring season for 2017. March the 19th is also the day many observe The Feast of Saint Joseph. I have a small statue of him on a shelf above my desk.

It can be seen in the picture atop this entry in the company of Saint Francis and Saint Jude, who are standing to his right (or lefthand side of the image).

October is Here!

Happy October! As the bulletin board in the background of the photo atop this blog entry states, "LEAVES FALL IN OCTOBER," so enjoy the foliage while you can. Oktoberfests also occur in this month, which ends with Halloween. During this time of year, a cast of characters usually come to spend time in the succulent garden that I have in my kitchen, as well as the armoire that I have in my main living area.

It's St. Thérèse de Lisieux's Feast Day!

Happy October! It's the month when the leaves on the trees will be changing colors (at least in the northeastern part of the United States where I live), the month featuring Oktoberfests, and the month that ends with Halloween, a holiday for which I have a designed unusual greeting cards.

My cards for this occasion are very unique as they are a petite wrap-around variety, which means that they fold out into a picture which is suitable for framing.

Today is also the feast day of St. Thérèse de Lisieux. She is the saint who is often referred to as "The Little Flower."

I thought of her this morning, as I was in my rooftop garden, where I was reflecting on the fact that I had moved into my apartment eighteen years ago today, and what a blessing it is for me to have a garden (especially since I live in NYC)!

Standing outside in my garden, in the wee hours of this Saturday morning, when most of New York City is sleeping (even though it claims to be a city where no one sleeps), I noticed one of my Helichrysum bracteatum (Strawflowers), striking an odd pose —  just as it was beginning to awaken for the day — and it was an almost prayerful "pose" at that, as evidenced in the photograph which I took of it and posted below.

This prompted me to think of one of St.

I am sorry to say that I barely have even a fraction of the faith that St. Thérèse de Lisieux was known to possess. Her picture (seen below) hangs above my desk as a reminder.

FALL 2018 ADDENDUM:

I no longer actively produce event program covers, invitations and the types of greeting cards described here or on my website but arrangements might be able to be made under certain circumstances. My focus is on the Words In Our Beak book series, pictured below...

MY BOOK SERIES

...whose stories are told from the point of view of Cam, a female cardinal, whose photo is on the cover of each book. Words In Our Beak’s goal is to open readers to a simple understanding of the winged world and their environment. Set in my rooftop urban garden in New York City. Words In Our Beak is directed to children and adults who are curious about birds, and want to learn about them from a unique perspective. The books include hundreds of images of flora and fauna, links to movies, as well as to informative narratives that have been created by the author.

Please click here to go to my blog post that provides details as to where you can get these books.

Additionally,  I have rendered some images from these books into other formats and they are available via Fine Art America (FAA). Some of my other photographs (Black & White Collection, Kaleidoscopic Images and the famous Mandarin duck who visited NYC) can also be found on my FAA pages.
