NYC Marathon's Fireworks 2016

I JUST went to Twitter to share a link to yesterday's blog post re an adorable squirrel that I encountered in NYC's Riverside Park. He/she can be seen in the first picture accompanying this Blogger entry. If you saw the aforementioned blog post, then you may recall seeing this exact image, as it was included there, along with a few other images of this sweet looking creature. I'm including the picture again today because I thought of squirrels (and other living creatures who might happen to be in the tree tops) during last night's display of fireworks (seen in photos two-three) that were featured in the pre-NYC Marathon extravaganza in Central Park.

Follow-Up Friday re 10-20-2016's Blogger Post

This past Wednesday, November the Second, was such an unseasonably warm day, so I went down by the riverside to visit the ducks, geese and seagulls, who spend a lot of time in NYC's Hudson River. (As you may recall, dear reader, I also went down to the riverside on an unseasonably warm October [the 20th] day to take in Shelia Berger's "Bird of Glory and Praise," a sculpture that is currently in Riverside Park, courtesy of The Art Students League.) And like my October visit to the river, once again, this past Wednesday I did see a number of seagulls, some are pictured in the images atop this blog entry.

However, I did not see ducks or geese as I usually do, but I did see squirrels enjoying autumn in NYC. One of them can be seen in the following images.

My observation of this adorable creature prompted me to recall the following quotation:

"If we had a keen vision of all that is ordinary in human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow or the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which is the other side of silence."

EGGS-TRA-ORDINARY FACTS re EGGS

The two images atop this blog entry feature different views of a guy known as Lil Devil. You may recognize him, for he was included as a wedding guest at a ceremony that I wrote about on here on Blogger this past Monday, which was also Halloween.

Lil Devil can be seen in the fourteenth image included in that post. And in that particular image, he can be seen standing next to the bride! Lil Devil has been coming to my place for Halloween related festivities for a number of years, and at one point he participated in a competition that I wrote about for hometalk. And the following year, Lil Devil was included in an entry on that same venue; an entry which touched on the value of old as well as new friends.

Yesterday, November 2nd, as he was preparing to leave for the year, Lil Devil let me in on an eggs-tra special secret re a holiday that I had not known about: National Deviled Egg Day! Evidently this holiday always occurs on November 2nd. I've had a craving for deviled eggs ever since he shared this information with me!

Wednesday's Wisdom: YES-es in November!

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

The poem atop today's blog entry is by Thomas Hood, and I've written about it a few times here on Blogger. If you'd like to reference my posts on Hood and his poem, please click here. Hood's poem is on my mind today, because it's All Souls Day, the day which always follows All Saints Day. On a number of occasions I've written about folks who have died as well as a few saints, but honoring those who have gone from this life is one of the big yes-es in the month of November.

Tuesday's Truths WK 16: "A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter....."

Hello. Welcome to week sixteenth of Tuesday's Truths, which happens to coincide with the day after Halloween. For those of you who follow me here on Blogger, Facebook, tumblr or hometalk, you know that I've discussed I use Halloween decor in my rooftop garden. And you know that I've also created many story-lines re the whimsical characters who have visited both my indoor succulent garden and main living area during the time of Halloween prep; the Halloween holiday itself; and Halloween aftermath. Today's Blogger post content touches on Halloween aftermath among other subjects. The photograph atop this blog features a partial view of what hangs above my kitchen stove.
