Pinecones and Cardinals Spend Time With my Japanese Larch (Larix Kaempferi)

I have a couple of newcomers to my garden: Pinecones!

They are on my Larix Kaempferi

A partial view of this evergreen tree can be seen in the image atop this entry.

Close-ups of the pinecones who have made their home in her branches can be seen in the next two images.

I was so intrigued by the presence of these pinecones that I researched on pinecones and found lots of interesting content.

One of the facts re pinecones I discovered is from a web-page for The Huffington Post where they pointed out how pinecones are made into little animal figurines (by children who live in Sweden as well as Finland). A web-image of the aforementioned pinecone figurines is featured in the image directly below.

Upon my seeing these figurines rendered from pinecones, I thought of figrines (which are made from Christmas tree parts) that I've had over the years, some examples can be seen in the next set of images.

I've published a few blog posts re those who created these reindeer from tree parts and they can be found within the label, Repurpose.

But getting back to my Larix Kaempferi, she is very much appreciated by various birds who visit my garden, including Northern cardinals, as evidenced within the following photographs featuring Mac, a male cardinal and his mate, Cam who both seem to feel comfortable spending time atop my larch's branches.

As some of  you may know, Cam, my visiting female cardinal is the narrator of my three volume book series, Words In Our Beak, and these books include stories about her husband, Mac (the male cardinal featured in these pictures).

I never tire of observing the antics of the cardinals (or any other bird for that matter) and am so grateful I have been able to share my observations with others through my three volume hard-cover book series, Words In Our Beak.

This is a photo of my three volume book series, "Words In Our Beak." Information re the books is another one of my blog posts @ https://www.thelastleafgardener.com/2018/10/one-sheet-book-series-info.html
MY BOOK SERIES

They are directed to children and adults who are curious about birds (as well as types of flora) and who want to learn about them from a unique perspective.

Cam, the aforementioned cardinal, along with her husband Mac, also the inspiration for two of my jigsaw puzzles and they are available in two sizes (500 pieces and 1,000 pieces) via Fine Art America (FAA).

Two of the puzzles in my collection,  A View From The Tree Tops and Cardinal Love 3, are based on cardinals who have  spent time in my roof extension gardnen and/or my building's courtyard. These products can be seen within the next sequnce of pictures.

Northern cardinals seem to show how much they care for their spouse by feeding each other as evidenced in my cardinal themed image titled Cardinal Love 2.

This can as seen in the image directly below, which has been rendered on to a greeting card and is available via my shop that's located on Fine Art America's site.

I'll conclude this posting with the next set of photos which feature works of art that are based based on my image Cardinal Love 1, and they show cardinals listening to each other.

As you can see, the colors of  the female (left) are muted giving them a protective camouflage. Deep red coloring in the males of this bird type indicates they are healthy and might make good partners and fathers to their children.

Perhaps this is what is on the mind of this female cardinal during her conversation with a potential mate that took place from atop a railing which surrounds my rooftop garden.

Whatever the case may be in this scenario, Cardinal Love1 when rendered on to a card makes a perfect salutation for the one near and dear to you.

This card is also available via Fine Art America .  They can also render this selection on to an array of surfaces for wall art, including acrylic...
