Nearly two weeks ago, here on Blogger, I
posted something regarding the fact that the bird type known as
Mourning doves (both genders) have blue eyelids, which can be seen in the image atop this entry.
Today, I'd like to point out another fact re this sweet bird type: The adult male has bright purple-pink patches on the neck sides, with light pink coloring reaching the breast, as seen in the following pictures.
All of these photographs show a male mourner in
my garden during the aftermath of a recent snowstorm. This place is the setting for my three volume hardcover book series,
Words In Our Beak.
The books make a perfect gift for someone who may be in quarantine or lockdown due to consequences of the
coronavirus because the stories in them can bring the outdoors into the homes of those who cannot go out and about.
Moreover, if you are someone you know I have designed Mourning dove themed
note-cards.
... these cards are great for all occasions. By the way, FAA can also render the images on to an array of surfaces; including acrylic...
...canvas...
...metal...
...special art paper...
...as well as wood...
... for varying sizes of wall art. Moreover, Fine Art America also offers framed images of my collections.
A reminder, which I've mentioned in prior posts, but is worth reiterating: continue to take a cue when you keep your eye on the birdie, especially mourning doves... you never know what they may teach you, especially about acceptance, as they are showing during our winter storms (evidenced in the three photographs atop this entry as well as in the ones (four) which are directly below).
