Remembering Bob Marley

Patricia Youngquist uses words and images to tell stories about her passions. Based in New York, she currently is authoring a series of nature books on birds of the city. Now in Apple’s iBooks store AND it’s on Amazon.

Yesterday, in addition to it being eight days before Valentines Day, and two days before the onset of The Year of The Monkey in this 2016 Chinese New Year, as well as one day before the Super Bowl (which I know NOTHING about); it is the birthdate of Bob Marley. (He was born in 1945 and died in 1981.)

Mr. Marley is known for many quotations and songs, but one that is fitting for me at this time is "Three Little Birds."

The following are the lyrics to "Three Little Birds," should you feel compelled to sing along:

"Don't worry about a thing

'Cause every little thing gonna be alright

'Cause every little thing gonna be alright!

Smiled with the risin' sun

Three little birds

Pitch by my doorstep

Of melodies pure and true

Saying', ('This is my message to you')

'Cause every little thing gonna be alright."

'Cause every little thing gonna be alright!

Smiled with the risin' sun

Three little birds

Pitch by my doorstep

Of melodies pure and true

Sayin', 'This is my message to you'
Every little thing gonna be alright. Don't worry!
Cause every little thing gonna be alright.
'Cause every little thing gonna be alright, I won't worry!
Cause every little thing gonna be alright.
'Cause every little thing gonna be alright!"

Singing' "Don't worry about a thing
Rise up this mornin'
Singin' sweet songs
Singing' "Don't worry 'bout a thing
Singing' "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing
Rise up this mornin'
Singin' sweet songs
Singin' "Don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Singin' "Don't worry about a thing" I won't worry!
Singin' "Don't worry about a thing
Singin' "Don't worry about a thing
Singin'"Don't worry about a thing, oh no!"

At the moment I still have little (and big) birdies singing in my rooftop garden, but the absence of three little voices in my bird choir is distressing.

As I mentioned (on Fb) over a week ago, I think Cam, my visiting cardinal, and co-author, has died. She can be seen in the picture (atop this entry) with her buddies, the house finches.

The house finches have not come around as much as they had been doing but from time to time they come, and when I hear them, I am overjoyed.

Cam also appreciated the house finches — once she got to now them — and she mentions many of their plights in her digital book, “Words In Our Beak Volume One."

Between my recent oral (and invasive) surgery, as well as a new and frightening concern re my eyes, I am having a hard time forging head on the sequels to Cam's book which we worked on a great deal before she disappeared.

Therefore, given my morale, I'n truly in need of hearing Marley's reassurance that "every little thing gonna be alright!"
