It's the day of Festivus!
Today is the holiday known as Festivus. According to Holiday Insights this day "came to recognition as the direct result of a Jerry Seinfeld television show episode. It first aired on December 18, 1997."
I haven't had a television since the 1970's, so I've only seen Seinfeld a handful of times when visiting friends, and I do remember Festivus being introduced on an episode of that show. It can be seen in the You Tube Video atop today's blog entry. Friday Follow-Up: The Celebration of Festivus
Today is a holiday known as Festivus! I blogged about it in 2010 in an entry where I included fun facts about my Japanese Larch (Larix Kaempferi) which grows in an urban garden that I have on my rooftop in NYC.
Be that as it may, the hot-looking figurine seen in the photo atop this entry is admiring the way she has made herself look for the celebrations (and yes that's plural, she gets around) which she plans to attend on this holiday!

Friday Follow Up: "the celebration of Festivus"
Today, Friday, is the weekday I reserve for follow-up: hence Friday Follow Up. However, today, December 23rd, is also known as Festivus Day. According to Wiki, "Festivus Day is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 as a way to celebrate the holiday without participating in its pressures, the religious aspects, and commercialism. It was created by writer Dan O'Keefe and introduced into popular culture by his son Daniel, a screenwriter for the TV show, Seinfeld."
Because I have not had a television for quite a number of years, what I know about Seinfeld is minimal, and I certainly — until today — knew nothing about the celebration of Festivus. My Larix Kaempferi (Japanese Larch) which grows in my urban (NYC) garden is the one who told me about it.
