NYC's Marathon is still for the birds! (According to Cam)

Today The New York City Marathon is taking place, and Cam, the cardinal pictured here, still thinks it's for the birds! In this photo she can be see running across a table that is in my urban garden.

The image is featured in all three formats of Cam's book, Words In Our Beak, Volume One

Photographs of the book's cover (with links to info) for each one of these can be found directly below.

Moreover, the picture atop this entry is also included in last year's blog post re the NYC's event.

Mourning doves, a bird variety that is discussed in Cam's book, are not the type who cares to run.

They can often be seen perching atop a bouncer that I have in my urban rooftop garden, as evidenced in the following images.

But don't let their sedate appearance fool you. They move at great speed. Many sources, including Wikipedia, claim the the Mourning dove "is a strong flier, capable of speeds up to 88 km/h (55 mph)."

So, that being said, if there were ever to be a bird marathon, the mourning doves would likely be considered in the same manner as elite marathon runners are!

ADENMENDUM: As of March 2, 2018, Words In Our Beak Volume One, is no longer available in the digital options listed here. A new digital option should be available sometime in the near future. Updates will be made when this happens, please stay tuned.
