I have some whimsical characters visiting me for the upcoming holiday of Valentine's Day, and the ones that are pictured here, happen to be multi-tasking!
They are here to remind me, as well as members of TLLG's Fb community, that Valentine's Day will be here in nine days; and if you want to get a gift for that special someone in your life, you might want to consider giving the gift of Cam!
Cam, as many of you know, is a beautiful as well as prolific cardinal who has been visiting my garden since 2012. You may even know that she and I have published a book together, a story told in her voice.
The book is called, "Words In Our Beak Volume One," and its goal is to open readers to a simple understanding of the winged world and their environment. Set in my rooftop urban garden in New York City, our story is told in the voice of Cam, a female cardinal, who visits it. "Words In Our Beak Volume One" is directed to children and adults who are curious about birds, and want to learn about them from a unique perspective.
The book includes hundreds of images of flora and fauna, links to movies, as well as to informative narratives that have been created by the author, and it makes a great as well as unusual Valentine's Day gift!
But, don't take just my word for it, check out what's been said about "Words In Our Beak Volume One" on Goodreads.
And see what people have said about "Words In Our Beak Volume One," within the "walls" of Apple's iBooks Store where it is available for purchase.
However, you can also find "Words In Our Beak Volume One" on Amazon.
Meanwhile, as I mentioned at the onset of this entry, the figurines pictured here are multi-tasking on this February 5th, for not only does it happen to be nine days before Valentines Day, but today is also known as ‪#‎WearRedDay‬ in and in honor of the mission, they are wearing red!
#WearRedDay came about because "heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds."
Organizations are now saying "fortunately, we can change that (statistic) because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. That’s why this year we are asking that you wear red on National Wear Red Day..."
At this time, I'm unable to donate dollars to their cause, but, with a little help from my whimsical friends, I can support their cause by helping advocates raise awareness by posting on social media!
